Many people say that college can be a defining time in their lives - one that sets them on a path forward. Well, no one could say this more than Cam Low. A proud CU Boulder Alumnus and Boulder Native, she continues to have her life sculpted by her time with CU. In fact, it started before she even went to college. Both her parents attended the University, which made her a legacy. Now, she volunteers with CU alumni, Buffs4Life, Boulder Chamber, and Ignite Adaptive Sports. It was this continued involvement with CU that actually led her to join the Cultivate team.

When the COVID pandemic struck our Mad World in 2020, the need for Cultivate’s services, specifically our grocery shopping program, Carry-Out Caravan, was in high demand. This led to our expansion into Broomfield County, but that meant that we needed someone who could work Under Pressure to run the program and handle all of the stress the pandemic brought by showing up ready to go every Manic Monday. It was a friend of Cam’s from her volunteer work with CU who told her about the position. It was a Once in a Lifetime opportunity because Cam had just been subject to a round of layoffs because of the pandemic. Everything was so uncertain, and none of us knew what would happen next, but from the first day at our office, she knew it was the right fit. And we could not agree more!

With a bubbly and outgoing personality, Cam not only runs the Broomfield Carry-Out Caravan program but she also runs our Business Development. She attributes her ability to feel comfortable with everyone and make friends easily to the influence of her mother. She also learned a lot about respecting her elders growing up in the Chinese culture. This has helped her connect with our clients as well.  If you come into our office, you will probably hear Cam on the phone or chatting with someone in person! She works hard to not only be friendly but reliable as well in her professional and personal life. She still is friends with people from elementary school, which is not something many people can say.

Much of her personal life right now is taken up enjoying the beautiful outdoors. As a native Coloradan, you may think it strange, but she has only recently gotten into things like paddle boarding, hiking, biking, and kayaking. She has been introduced to a lot of new activities by her boyfriend. And where did she meet him? You guessed it, volunteering at CU.

We would also be remiss if we did not mention Cam’s love for the 80s! She is an 80s girl at heart and has attended an 80s cruise every year for the past five years. She and her friends often look Pretty in Pink, denim, and neon colors of all varieties as they dance All Night Long to their favorite hits. If you have not already caught it, you can see some mentions of popular 80’s hits from her favorite decade sprinkled throughout this article. In a Big Country like ours, there are very few people quite as dedicated to their community as Cam. And she shows us this Time after Time.
