Client Cameo: Beverly C.
Beverly C. is our latest Client Cameo. She has been a Carry-Out Caravan client since the start of the pandemic.
Beverly was born in Seattle but her family moved to Los Angeles during The Depression. She attended St. Mary's College, a Catholic women's college, and got her Masters in Social Work from Fordham University in New York. She met her husband, Jim, in New York where he was a Law Professor at NYU (at the young age of 25!), and she was working as a social worker. They were married a year later and eagerly started their family; they had six children within the first ten years of their marriage! Beverly loved being a wife, homemaker and mother. She said that she is so very fortunate to have been married for 58 years (sadly, Jim passed away in 2014), and has had such a blessed life. Beverly says that she and Jim made a great team and that she is so proud of all the accomplishments of her husband and children. All of their children have successful careers serving the public. Jim served as a U.S. District Court Judge for Colorado, Justice of the Colorado Supreme Court and was a CU Regent.
After all her kids left home, she worked part time jobs and enjoyed gardening, walking their dogs and traveling. Once Jim retired, she would join him on trips as he continued to work part time as a private judge, and she has fond memories of their adventures to Ireland, Rome and Austria together.
Beverly loves living in Frasier and has been very active in the community since she moved there seven years ago. She served four years on the Board of Trustees and two years as chair of the resident sponsored Thanks-Giving Fund, which honors and rewards Frasier's hourly employees who enrich the residents' lives there. She has also helped compile the history of Frasier for their 60th Anniversary.
Beverly is losing her vision and had to give up driving a few years ago. Even though there is a Frasier shuttle service that can take residents to the store, Beverly loves that Cultivate can help shop and transport the heavy or bulky items that are harder for her to carry and that they are delivered right to her door. She appreciates that the wonderful shoppers take the time to call her with questions about her order. She was especially grateful for Cultivate during the height of the pandemic when they were not allowed to leave their rooms.
It is an honor to be able to serve you, Beverly, after all that your family has contributed to Boulder and Colorado. Your family has been advocates for helping and defending people. It's nice that our services at Cultivate can give back and help you and your family in return.
