January Volunteers of the Month: Jim and James Carr
We are honored to introduce Jim and James Carr, a wonderful father and son team as our Volunteers of the Month for January! Jim has been a volunteer with Cultivate's SnowBusters program for ten years and his son James joined us this year. They make an awesome team and help our clients stay safe by clearing their sidewalks and driveways in the winter.
Jim grew up in Cadillac, Michigan, and graduated from Western Michigan University in 1991. Then, in 1999 he moved to Boulder from San Francisco after getting married to Dr. Jennifer Carr, OD. In his youth, Jim worked as a lifeguard and had an ambition to get a job with computers. That childhood ambition led him into his adult career as he currently works from home as a Network Engineer for Shutterfly. Jim enjoys snowboarding and wake surfing. He is proud to have checked hiking Mount Kilimanjaro off his bucket list and hopes to someday hike it again with James. Jim says his proudest moments are those made when he's helping people in need. His grandma had a great impact on him because she had a strong religious faith and taught him discipline, which is a wonderful virtue to possess.
James was born here in Boulder and aspires to make video games. His hobbies include art, computer coding and engineering. He attends Boulder High School and works at McGuckin's on the weekends. One of the things on his bucket list is to visit all of the continents. He says he volunteers because it is his way to do his part to help the world!
Thank you both for volunteering your time and labor shoveling snow. We are so grateful for the decade of service Jim has dedicated to Cultivate and our clients and are so excited that James is following in his footsteps!
