November Volunteer of the Month: Tracy Aragon

By Cam Low

We are so excited to introduce you to this month’s Volunteer of the Month - Tracy Aragon. Tracy was born and raised in San Diego, California. As a child, Tracy’s ambition was to become a vet. She has loved animals ever since she can remember and wanted to be a person that could take care of them. Instead, once grown, she started working for the Kroger Company as a bagger at the Gunbarrel King Soopers. And here we are 33 years later and Tracy is still with the Kroger Company, working at the King Soopers in Longmont on 17th and Pace. And that’s where she met Cultivate.

You see, technically, Tracy is a King Soopers employee, not a Cultivate volunteer. But she is our primary helper at King Soopers on Tuesdays for Carry-Out Caravan. She gives so much of herself to help make each shopping week a success that she is an official part of the Carry-Out Caravan team and part of the Cultivate family. Because of Tracy’s help and commitment, our Longmont Carry-Out Caravan successfully runs each week.

Tracy is optimistic, cheerful, and truly cares for those around her. She enjoys photography, listening to music, and Starbucks coffee. Her perfect day would include going on a picnic lunch, playing a board game, and dancing around the house. We smile just thinking about that! Someday Tracy hopes to visit Egypt, Australia, and/or Ireland.  Her advice for future generations is “worry about things that you can control instead of unimportant things. Why give importance or extra energy to things that can’t be changed?” Like many parents, Tracy’s biggest life challenge was raising her kids and leading them to become the wonderful people they are. She says her kids are going pretty great so she thinks she passed that difficult challenge!

Why is Tracy so committed to Cultivate? “Because I love the idea of being able to help out our seniors. I think the Cultivate mission is very important and the programs Cultivate offers are amazing and I’m proud to be a part of it all.” And we are beyond proud and grateful to have Tracy on our team!
