Staff Spotlight: Get to know Sharon Greene

By Carly Marquis

If you visit the Cultivate offices, you may notice that there is one office that seems to have people coming in and out of it constantly. This office belongs to our Director of Operations, Sharon Greene. Having been at Cultivate for almost 10 years, she is a fountain of knowledge, and somehow manages to get all of her work done with all of our staff stopping in to talk. However, her professional opinion is not the only thing that is sought out. Her humor, kindness and patience make her a very easy person to work with, and that shows up in her work with staff, volunteers and clients alike.

How did Sharon come to work at Cutivate? She and her family moved to Boulder County when she was 10 years old. Sharon always thought that she would be a teacher when she grew up, and even started attending UNC with that career path in mind. However, after one quarter, it became clear that this was not her passion. So, she took a two-year break from school and then returned to attend CU Boulder Leeds College of Business. While in college she worked for a literary agent before working for 17 years at an international computer users group as event planner, magazine editor and executive director. Sharon then spent 15 years working with her husband, and high school sweetheart, Jeff, and running their own home repair business. When Sharon felt like she needed to find something of her own, Cultivate seemed like a perfect fit. Having always had a love for older adults and a naturally caring heart, she made the change.

If she is not at our office solving problems and keeping us going, Sharon is spending time with Jeff and their dog Libby (who can also be found coming in and out of Sharon’s office all day). She has a deep love of music, reading and writing that keep her busy when she is not caring for her friends and family. Her home is also a fixture in the neighborhood for the large inflatables she puts out every holiday. After all, who could have celebrated St. Patricks day without a giant T-Rex drinking a pint of beer?

Whether you meet Sharon at work or home, she brings her full authentic self and strives to treat all of those around her with kindness and respect. It also helps if you bring up the Denver Nuggets or the Simpsons!
