Upcoming Events - February 2019

Football fans and romantics unite, February has arrived. Cheer on your favorite team in the Super Bowl early this month and celebrate Valentine’s Day soon after. If you’re looking for activities to keep you busy in the meantime, look no further. Every month, we share some of the events we’ll be attending as well as others that we know you’ll love to hear about. Read on for February 2019’s upcoming events:

Becoming American: An Immigration Film and Discussion Series

Museum of Boulder

2205 Broadway, Boulder

Join the Museum of Boulder and Dr. Nicholas Villanueva, professor of Ethnic Studies at University of Colorado at Boulder, throughout February for a film and discussion exploring the history of immigration. While at the museum, you’ll also have the opportunity to view local artist Dona Laurita’s exhibit, The Silhouette Project: Stories of Immigrants, Refugees and Dreamers. Loveland Sweetheart Festival

Downtown Loveland

Love is in the air—particularly in Loveland, Colorado for their inaugural Loveland Sweetheart Festival. Celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days early with activities for all ages, including the tallest love-lock sculpture in the country, an art gallery walk, sweet treats and musical performances. The fun begins at 5pm on Friday night and starts again on Saturday afternoon. You can find more information on the Loveland Sweetheart Festival website.

Boulder Symphony GLOW Concert

First Presbyterian Church Chapel

1820 15th Street, Boulder

The Boulder Symphony presents a special concert for individuals with neurodegenerative disorders and their family, friends, and caretakers. The concert is a collaboration between the Boulder Symphony and the Parkinson's Association. The free concert includes audience participation for an interactive twist to a traditional concert. From London With Love

Stewart Auditorium, Longmont Museum

The Boulder Bach Festival is in it’s 38th season. Throughout the year the festival presents concerts and educational events exploring classical musical history. For Valentine’s Day, join the Baroque orchestra and soloists for a performance from a diverse cast of classical composers. Active Minds Seminar: Renewable Energy

Lafayette Public Library

775 Baseline Road, Lafayette

This collaborative event is hosted by the Lafayette Public Library and Lafayette Senior Services in partnership with Active Minds, a Colorado organization creating discussion programs for adults on contemporary global issues. This is the first of four free seminars happening throughout the year, and it will take a look at the current state of renewable energy and how it will evolve into the future. Friends of the Longmont Library Book Sale

Longmont Library

409 4th Avenue, Longmont

Book lovers rejoice! Friends of the Longmont Library are hosting one of their quarterly book sales. The hallways and meeting rooms of the library will be stuffed with books across genres, so you’re sure to find an engrossing option. The sale is open to the public Friday through Sunday, with Thursday being reserved for Friends of the Longmont Library members. Find more information from the Friends website.

 

 

February 28th–March 3rd

Boulder International Film Festival

The 15th Annual Boulder International Film Festival brings films and filmmakers from across the world into our own backyard. This year’s special opening-night host is David Crosby. A documentary about his life, David Crosby: Remember My Name, is one of the many films featured during the four-day event.
