Upcoming Events - January 2019
The new year is here, so let’s start 2019 off with a bang. From museum exhibits to musical entertainment, there are plenty of opportunities to get out in our community this January. Every month, we share some of the events we’ll be attending as well as others that we know you’ll love to hear about. Read on for January 2019’s upcoming events:
January
Living With Wolves Exhibit
2205 Broadway, Boulder
This national geographic photography exhibit documents the lives of a wolf pack and highlights the efforts made to reintroduce wolves into western Colorado. The multimedia exhibit runs through late May, but stop in to run with the wolves (or at least walk along the exhibit) today. You can find more information on the Museum of Boulder website.
January 3rd | 7pm
The Journey of a Writer, with Author Laura Pritchett
409 4th Avenue, Longmont
Colorado-based author Laura Pritchett will be at the Longmont Library talking about her 25-year career as a writer. Pritchett is the author of nine books and one play, all set in Colorado. The hour long program is preceded by a writing workshop. Both events are free, but registration is required. Find more information on the Longmont Library website.
January 15th
Dementia-Friendly Day at the Museum
400 Quail Road, Longmont
Every third Tuesday of the month, the Longmont Museum and other local businesses welcome people with dementia, their caregivers, family, and friends for the chance to socialize and enjoy the exhibits. Learn more on the City of Longmont website.
January 19th | 7:30pm
Ohlsson Plays Rachmaninoff at Macky
1595 Pleasant Street, Boulder
Join the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra for a performance of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 1 by legendary pianist Garrick Ohlsson. The concert begins at 7:30pm, but arrive early to catch the free pre-concert talk at 6:30pm, hosted by Marilyn Cooley of Colorado Public Radio. January 21st
Annual Martin Luther King Peace March
Organized by the Lafayette Youth Advisory Committee, this event celebrates Martin Luther King Jr. with a variety of activities. Check the City of Lafayette website for the schedule of events as it becomes available.
January 23rd | 8pm
Beatles vs. Stones—A Musical Showdown
2032 14th Street, Boulder
It’s a musical showdown that’s not to be missed. Two famous cover bands—Beatles tribute band Abbey Road and Rolling Stones tribute band Satisfaction—come together on one stage for a night of famous hits. Find out more on the Boulder Theater website.

Louisville Recreation & Senior Center Grand Opening
Louisville Recreation & Senior Center
900 Via Appia Way, Louisville
The newly renovated Louisville Recreation & Senior Center will celebrate their grand opening with free entry all day, fitness class demos, and a free gift to the first 500 people to arrive. Get there early to enjoy a performance by the Singing Seniors and view the Ribbon Cutting. Find more information on the City of Louisville website.
